Wennemars

Approximately 65 cm off the ground is our advice if you hang the teatbucket, groupsbar or milkbar.

A calf drinking from its mother typically crouches slightly and lifts its nose. This behavior is not without reason. Drinking in this way helps prepare the entire body to properly absorb the milk. It’s how a calf’s natural feeding mechanism works. The esophageal groove reflex is inherently effective. To replicate this natural posture as closely as possible, it’s important not to position the teat too high. We recommend a height of 65 cm, though this may vary depending on the breed and the type of flooring you have. In nature, a calf feeds from an udder that hangs at the same height.

In a single pen, it’s best to hang the teat at a height of 60 cm. Adjust the teat bucket support to make it easier for the calf to learn how to drink on its own. For group pens, there are different types of fencing and tube heights. The Wennemars® adaptor ensures that the teat hangs at the correct height, regardless of the fence. This adaptor also prevents the Feeder from being knocked off the fence by the calf. Enjoy calf feeding! When you enjoy calf rearing, you’ll do it even better.
